Recent Accolades

  • Inclusion of the association into the ‘task force committee’ set up by the Central Pollution Control Board for the review of existing effluent norms.
  • LEGAT (Customs, Excise & Gold (control) Appellate Tribunal ) ruling in favors of DMAI on the impossible of ‘Anti Dumping Duty’ on Aniline Oil coming from European union.
  • Numerous Seminars organized to create awareness about the charter on corporate Responsibility on Environment Protection (CREP)
  • DMAI got the mandatory minimum balances maintained with State Bank of India at the ports to be reduced by 50%.
  • Restoration of rates of Duty Drawback on Dye-intermediates to 8% and Optical whiteners to 4.5% with retrospective effect (year 2003)
  • Enhancement of DEPB rates (year 2002)
  • Rationalization of SION (Standard Input Output Norms)
  • Submission of report Strengthening of the Indian Dyestuffs Industry to UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization)
  • Sorting of long pending problems of members by participation in the Watch-dog Committee of the JNPT Mumbai Ports.

Past Milestones

  • 1954 Taken up Tarrif committee recommendations for implementation.
  • 1975 Published first ever comprehensive Indian dyestuffs directory.
    Celebrated the silver jubilee of DMAI with doyen of dyestuffs chemistry, Prof. K. Venkatraman.
  • 1979 First export delegation of dyes manufacturers to Europe.
  • 1984 Export delegation to South and Far East Asia.
  • 1985 Organized the landmark , All India Dyestuff Conference (AIDCON)
    Published second directory of Indian dyestuffs and intermediate manufacturers.
  • 1991 The Strategic Action Plan for the dyestuff industry was jointly formulated with the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals Government of India.
  • 1996 Published a book on ‘Safe Dyes’
  • 2000 Celebrated golden jubilee of DMAI
